It’s okay if you want to hold your baby all the time mama. In fact, its what we are biologically designed to do as human mothers.
The fresh days of postpartum are a time for mothers to rest, recover and hold their babies skin-to-skin as much as possible. This regulates baby’s heart rate, body temperature and promotes the breastfeeding relationship.
Yet, we live in a society that is so misinformed about what is healthy and normal for mothers and babies postpartum.
More often than not, mothers are told “don’t hold her too much, you’ll spoil her” and “you have to teach her independence by not responding”. The worst one, “let her cry it out”.
These separation-based opinions that are telling mothers to not be responsive and to not hold their babies, go against every single biological instinct we have as human mothers.
It’s okay to hold your baby all the time.
It’s okay to contact nap.
It’s okay to breastfeed for comfort.
It’s okay to respond to every single cry.
All of these things are actually healthy and promote healthy attachment, breastfeeding, and are what we are biologically designed to do as mothers.
Despite the loud noise in our society, simply tune into your instincts mama. If your heart is telling you to pick up your baby and to hold your baby: follow your wise mama heart.
Follow Your Instincts Mama
